} 0 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />*rtrr*t***s*rrt*...**rr****s**~..**r******rr~*• <br />THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 1996 <br />***+rrr******rs*r**.~**er*t****r**~****sr***rtt <br />The special joint meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, and the Lee County Board of Education, convened at 5:30 p.m., <br />Thursday, March 14, 1996, in the Gordon A. Wicker Community Conference Room, 106 <br />Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present Jimmie M. Cox, John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr.; F. Hubert Garner; Bertha L. Matthews and J. Douglas Moretz. <br />Commissioners Van R. Groce and Robert T. Reives were absent. Board of Education <br />members' present were Jan Perkinson; David Simpson; Eugenia Thompson; Joan <br />Wagoner; Frances Warner; James Womack and Phil Yarborough. <br />Chairman Garner presided and delivered the invocation. <br />The meeting was turned over to Board of Education Chairperson Jan Perkinson <br />and Superintendent Steve Wrenn. Mr. Wrenn told the Boards' they have agreed that the <br />schools' programs should be driven by a philosophy, vision and action plan that reflects <br />the expectations of the community. He submitted for discussion recommended estimated <br />1996-97 strategies for current expenses and capital outlay. Much discussion took place <br />and no action was taken. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, Commissioner <br />Matthews moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews and Moretz <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the meeting <br />adjourned in keeping with the motion. <br />i <br />F.
