Commissioner Reives moved to approve the pre-application grant for <br />HAVEN in Lee County, Inc. in the amount of $54,798.00. Commissioner Matthews <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the purchase of a new 1996 van for Lee-Harnett Criminal <br />Justice Alliance. Director of Youth and Adult Services Randell Woodruff asked the <br />Board to approve the state contract bid for the purchase of a new 1996 Dodge van to be <br />used in Lee and Harnett counties and must be purchased prior to May 15, 1996 to <br />prevent losing funds out of the discretionary funding received from the Criminal Justice <br />Partnership Program of the North Carolina Department of Correction. The van is <br />valued at $19,545.54. After some discussion Commissioner Matthews moved to <br />approve the purchase of a new 1996 Dodge van, in the amount of $19,545.54, for Lee- <br />Harnett Criminal Justice Alliance. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request for permission to solicit proposals to design <br />and prepare specifications for the construction of a new Emergency Medical Services <br />building. Public Works Director Kenny Cole told the Board he was ready to submit <br />bids and request for proposals to hire an engineer or architect for the construction of a <br />6500 square foot building to be located at the Public Works site on Fifth Street to <br />house the Emergency Medical Services staff. After some discussion Commissioner <br />Moretz moved to approve the hiring of an engineer or architect for the construction of <br />a new Emergency Medical Services building.
