0(33 <br />sOOK 16 mc_r 386 <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of <br />emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, injury prevention and the appropriate use of the EMS system will <br />reduce national health care costs; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the County Board of Commissioners, Lee County, North <br />Carolina, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of May 19 - 25, 1996 <br />as <br />EMRGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br />and encourage the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, <br />ceremonies, and activities. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a grant application for the Hispanic Task Force of Lee <br />County. Mrs. Celia Dickerson, President of the Hispanic Task Force, was present and <br />asked the Board to consider a renewal grant application from the Governor's Crime <br />Commission in the amount of $28,632 for the next fiscal year. Commissioner Reives <br />moved to approve the renewal grant for the Hispanic Task Force of Lee County as <br />presented. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered recommendations from the Planning Board. Planning <br />Director Trevis Averett told the Board the Planning Board denied the rezoning petition for <br />a zoning change by Eddie S. Winstead, III to rezone from Residential Agricultural District <br />to Light Industrial Conditional Use District 5.0 acres of land on the south side of <br />Carbonton Road. Commissioner Groce moved to approve the recommendation of the <br />Planning Board to deny this request. Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />3 <br />
