MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />MONDAY, MAY 6, 1996 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Room, Lee County <br />/ Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners' <br />present were Jimmie M. Cox; John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; F. Hubert Garner; Van R. Groce; <br />Bertha L. Matthews; J. Douglas Moretz and Robert T. Reives. <br />Chairman Garner presided and the following business was transacted. <br />The Rev. Gordon West, pastor of Flat Springs Baptist Church delivered the <br />invocation. <br />The Board considered approval of the draft of the minutes of the April 15, 1996 <br />regular meeting. Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the minutes as the official <br />record of said meeting. Commissioner Groce seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered approval of the agenda. Chairman Garner moved that item <br />6-A (request from the Sanford-Lee County Regional Airport Authority) be deleted from <br />the agenda and Commissioner Matthews asked that a letter of appreciation be sent to the <br />Health Department employees commending them for the extra hours they have been <br />putting in recently. Commissioner Dossenbach moved to approve the agenda as printed <br />with the above changes. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />Commissioner Moretz asked the Board to discuss a merit pay plan for the County. <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />
