EDO3 16 =t:n_ 445 <br />The Board considered proposed increases and schedule for Parks and Recreation. <br />Recreation Director Jennifer Sipe proposed various fee changes in the youth sports <br />programs, which had been approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission. After <br />some discussion Commissioner Cox moved to approve the fee increases and schedule for <br />Parks and Recreation as presented. Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon <br />a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews and Reives <br />Nay: Groce and Moretz <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />After further discussion, Commissioner Moretz moved to waive the fee for youth sports <br />for Lee County residents. Commissioner Groce seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Groce, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner and Matthews <br />The Chairman ruled the motion failed with a four to three vote. <br />The Board discussed opening the W. B. Wicker Gym for youth programs during <br />the summer. Recreation Director Jennifer Sipe told the Board Wicker Gym, along with <br />the gyms at Deep River School, Broadway School and Greenwood School would be open <br />in the next couple of weeks for supervised youth programs at no charge to participants. <br />Commissioner Cox moved for Mrs. Sipe to implement this program as soon as possible. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mr. Cowan told the Board a $15,000 cost would need to be added to the Recreation <br />Department for this program. <br />The Board considered bids for replacement of heating and cooling units at Lee- <br />Harnett Mental Health, Probation Office and the Cooperative Extension Office.
