Planning Director <br />Trevis Averett told the Board that Mr. Lloyd Atkins had requested an extension of the <br />letter of credit for private road improvements to Allen Farms Road Subdivision. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to extend the letter of credit to Mr. Atkins for private <br />road improvements to the Allen Farms Road Subdivision. Commissioner Moretz <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews. Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a resolution requesting amendments to the State Watershed <br />Protection Map. Planning Director Trevis Averett requested the water supply watershed <br />protection maps for Lee County be amended to reflect a recent interpretation of the North <br />Carolina Environmental Management Commission. Commissioner Groce moved <br />approval of the following: <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING AMENDMENT TO <br />STATE WATER SUPPLY WATERSHED PROTECTION MAP <br />FOR COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Environmental Management Commission has <br />recently issued an interpretative statement setting forth its intent with respect to the <br />delineation of protected areas for WS-IV water supply watersheds on the state water <br />supply watershed protection maps where the intake is located directly in a stream or river <br />(run-of-the-river intakes); and, <br />WHEREAS, as a result thereof, the definition of "Protected Area" as found in the <br />applicable provisions of the North Carolina Administrative Code, has been clarified such <br />that the ten (10) mile protected area for WS-IV water supply intakes located directly in a <br />stream or river may be measured using ten (10) stream miles in lieu of ten (10) land miles; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, as a local government affected by such interpretative statement, it is <br />the desire of the governing body of the County of Lee that the watershed area over which <br />it has jurisdiction be redefined and redrawn so as to reflect the interpretation above <br />described. <br />12 <br />
