0011 <br />soon 16 Fr„E 521 <br />into the matter and report back to the County Manager and Chairman as soon as possible. <br />No action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered the purchase of a new ambulance for Emergency Services. <br />Emergency Services Director Warren Lee asked the Board to approve a purchase order in <br />the amount of $68,894.00 for the cost of a new 1996 Ford E-350 ambulance for EMS <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the purchase order to American Emergency <br />Vehicles in the amount of $68,894.00 for a 1996 Ford E-350 Type III ambulance. <br />Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a date for a public hearing on the sale of malt beverages in <br />Lee County. Commissioner Moretz moved for the Board to hold a public hearing on <br />August 19, 1996 at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as it can be heard to hear comments <br />from local citizens concerning the matter of the sale of malt beverages in Lee County. <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: Cox, Dossenbach and Garner <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a four to three vote: <br />Chairman Garner made the following statement, "I want the record to clearly show that <br />I'm not opposed to having a public hearing, I just think it's too much on that one night for <br />all we've scheduled". He further stated, "my preference would be to hold the hearing in <br />September or October or later". <br />The Board considered a Victims of Crime Act Grant Award for FY 1996. County <br />Manager William Cowan asked the Board to approve this grant in the amount of <br />$35,790.00 from the North Carolina Department of Crime Control & Public Safety: The <br />Hispanic Task Force of Lee County will administer the grant. After some discussion <br />Commissioner Groce moved to approve the Victims of Crime Act Grant Award for FY <br />1996 as presented. Commissioner Dossenbach seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />8 <br />
