0007 <br />Eobg 16 ~~,F 517 <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Croce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board heard a request from representatives of the Boys & Girls Clubs of <br />Sanford/Lee County, Inc. Mr. Richard Hager, President of the Club and Director Bo <br />Hedrick spoke briefly about the club and asked the Board for permission to place a <br />permanent building at O.T. Sloan Park on a two acre tract recently acquired from the <br />Recreation Foundation of Lee County. Funds for this building would be raised from <br />private and civic donations. Commissioner Dossenbach moved for the County Attorney <br />and representatives of the Boys & Girls Club to meet and work out details for a building <br />on a 25-year lease arrangement. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board heard a presentation from School Superintendent Steve Wrenn <br />concerning the acquisition of real property for the Board of Education. Mr. Wrenn told <br />the Board the family of J. Shelton and Clarice Burns Wicker has offered to donate a <br />majority of the value of a 63-acre tract of land in West Sanford for a new elementary <br />school planned to accommodate students in the St. Clair/Warren Williams school -districts., <br />The Wicker family and the Lee County Board of Education have entered into an <br />agreement that gives school officials the option to acquire the land bordered by McNeill <br />Road, Burns Drive and Charleston Drive - valued at more than $500,000 - and could be <br />purchased for $250,000. After some discussion Commissioner Dossenbach moved to <br />approve $250,000 from the recent school bond sale to purchase the 63-acre tract of land. <br />Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered Tax Releases and Refunds for June, 1996. Tax <br />Administrator Roger Kelley presented the releases to the Board and answered questions. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach moved to approve Tax Releases and Refunds for June, 1996, <br />copies of which are attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />4 <br />
