BOOK 539 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR WORK SESSION <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MONDAY, AUGUST 12, 1996 <br />The regular work session of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 7:30 a.m. in the Gordon A. Wicker Community <br />Conference Room at the Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, <br />North Carolina. Commissioners' present were Jimmie M. Cox; John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; <br />F. Hubert Garner; Van R. Groce; Bertha L. Matthews; J. Douglas Moretz and Robert T. <br />Reives. <br />Chairman Garner presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Cox delivered the invocation. <br />Commissioner met and mingled with new employees hired during the last quarter. <br />Department heads and/or staff members introduced employees to the Board. <br />The Board considered approval of the agenda. Commissioner Dossenbach moved <br />to approve the agenda as printed. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed surplus property owned by Lee County. Commissioner <br />Moretz went over various sites owned by the County and recommended several parcels be <br />sold. After some discussion County Manager William Cowan was instructed to check on <br />parcels that could be disposed of due to the lack of any current use or foreseeable use to <br />the County (25 parcels) and report back to the Board within the next thirty (30) days. No <br />action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board discussed recommendations for amending the County's Zoning and <br />Subdivision Ordinances. The Planning Board is currently reviewing Lee County's Zoning <br />and Subdivision Ordinances for amendments. The Board made suggested <br />recommendations to Planning Director Trevis Averett for the Planning Board to take <br />under consideration when working on this Ordinance.
