He further told the Board $149,600.00 was budgeted in the 1996/97 budget <br />for these purchases, prior to the approval of the new position for the Child Support <br />Officer. Commissioner Groce moved to approve the purchase of eight (8) automobiles for <br />the Sheriffs Department at a total of $163,095.16. Commissioner Dossenbach seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, and Moretz <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered Tax Releases and Refunds for September, 1996. Tax <br />Administrator Roger Kelley presented the report and answered questions of the Board. <br />Commissioner Moretz moved to approve Tax Releases and Refunds for September, 1996, <br />a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews and Moretz <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered billing procedures for EMS medical necessity bills. <br />Emergency Services Director Warren Lee asked the Board to consider an Ambulance <br />Transportation Liability Policy which would assure that Lee County EMS would be <br />reimbursed for ambulance transports of patients for which Medicare and/or Medicaid deny <br />payment. The intent of this policy is to encourage physicians to utilize Lee County <br />Medical Service for which it is operated. <br />During this discussion Commissioner Reives joined the meeting. Commissioner <br />Dossenbach moved to approve the Ambulance Transportation Liability Policy as <br />presented. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered extending the waive of tipping fees at the landfill at Lemon <br />Springs. Public Works Director Kenny Cole told the Board at the regular meeting on <br />September 16, 1996, the Board moved to waive tipping fees at the landfill for 30 days due <br />to the extra debris from Hurricane Fran.
