0003 <br />soon 16 ptu 635 <br />WHEREAS, Statewide efforts are being held in North Carolina to reduce the <br />number of health complications and deaths associated with these illnesses by promoting <br />adult immunizations. The Division of Maternal and Child Health and Division of Health <br />Promotion are encouraging all immunization providers to work with their communities to <br />vaccinate adults by expanding clinic hours, increasing screenings, and distributing <br />educational and promotional materials. <br />WHEREAS, Senior Vaccination Sunday is a statewide vaccination effort that will <br />be held on a single day, Sunday, November 3, 1996. Senior Vaccination Sunday will <br />involve the provision of influenza and pneumonia vaccines to persons 65 and older with <br />Medicare Part B through community-based events. <br />WHEREAS, by joining both efforts, agencies, businesses and civic and religious <br />organizations in Lee County can help protect adults in our community from becoming at <br />risk of death or disability from a vaccine preventable disease. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Lee County Board of Commissioners' do hereby <br />proclaim Sunday, November 3, 1996, as "SENIOR VACCINATION SUNDAY" in Lee <br />County, and call upon the citizens of our community to join in supporting these efforts to <br />fully immunize our adult population. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews and Moretz <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an ordinance to grant a franchise for non-emergency <br />ambulance service to American Medical Response, Inc. County K. R. Hoyle presented the <br />second reading of an ordinance to American Medical Response, Inc., who has made an <br />application for a franchise from Lee County to operate a non-emergency and convalescent <br />ambulance service in Lee County. Commissioner Dossenbach moved approval of the <br />following: <br />AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A NON-EXCLUSIVE <br />FRANCHISE TO AMERICAN MEDICAL RESPONSE, INC. <br />FOR THE PROVISION OF NON-EMERGENCY AND CONVALESCENT <br />AMBULANCE SERVICE IN LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />The Lee County Board of Commissioners does ordain as follows: <br />Section 1.
