0003 <br />BOOK 16 PACE 667 <br />The Board considered a resolution of appreciation for employees of the Sanford <br />Fire Department and Sanford Emergency Communications Center for their work during <br />Hurricane Fran. Commissioner Cox moved to approve a resolution of appreciation, a <br />copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a proclamation to proclaim November 22 - 28, 1996 as <br />Farm City Week. Cooperative Extension Director John Hall asked the Board to approve a <br />proclamation and outlined the annual event and banquet which will be held Monday, <br />November 25, 1996 at the Civic Center. Commissioner Moretz moved to approve a <br />proclamation to proclaim November 22 - 28, 1996 as Farm City Week, a copy of which is <br />attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Commissioner Reives <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request for additional funds for Central Carolina <br />Community College. Dr. Marvin Joyner asked the Board to allocate additional funds to <br />cover the repair of the roof of the Administration and Student Services Building <br />($16,340); and repair the sewage lift station that serves the Animal Lab and improvements <br />to increase the air exchange in the Animal Lab (combined cost of $21,000). He further <br />told the Board these costs were unexpected and unbudgeted. Commissioner Dossenbach <br />moved to authorize $37,340 for Central Carolina Community College and make the funds <br />available when money was needed by the college. Commissioner Matthews seconded the <br />motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: Cox <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />The Board considered contracts for "First Night" Celebration between Lee <br />County and Sanford Festivals, Inc. Recreation Director Jennifer Sipe told the Board The <br />Sanford Festivals, Inc. will be using the Armory gymnasium for this years New Year's Eve <br />Celebration for three different activities.
