soar, 16 >ns[ 708 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Commissioners of Lee County, North Carolina that the <br />Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina be, and it hereby is, amended as follows: <br />Section 1. That the provisions of Article X, Signs, in the Zoning Ordinance be amended as <br />described hereafter: <br />a. In the first sentence of Section 4, insert the word "zoning" in front of the word <br />"permit" such that the sentence will read: " The following signs are allowed in all <br />districts and no zoning permit is required prior to installation." <br />b. Delete Section 4 (h) in its entirety and replace it with a revised Section 4 (h) as <br />follows: <br />"h) At any entrance to a residential, office, or industrial subdivision or multi-family <br />development , there shall be not more than two (2) signs identifying such <br />subdivision or development. A single side of any such sign shall not exceed 16 <br />square feet, nor shall the total surface area of all such signs located at a single <br />entrance exceed 32 square feet. Height of the sign shall not exceed 6 feet, and <br />the line of sight for vehicular traffic must not be obstructed. Approval of the <br />N.C. Division of Highways must be obtained for subdivision entrance signs <br />located within their rights-of-way, maintenance limits, or lines of sight. The <br />signs may be illuminated from an external source, provided that, light directed <br />toward the signs shall be shielded so that it does not shine directly into the street <br />right- of-way or residential premises." <br />C. Add to Section 6 (a) the following provisions: <br />"For commercial or industrial buildings which contain more than one separate <br />establishment or occupancy such as a shopping center, the sign area may be <br />increased to a maximum of 125 square feet for 2 establishments and a <br />maximum of 150 square feet for 3 or more establishments." <br />09 <br />Section 2. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its <br />adoption. <br />
