0 0 <br />500K 16 FACE 706 <br />request to fly the Confederate National Flag at the Lee County Courthouse on Sunday, <br />January 19, 1997. Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered electing a voting delegate for the 1997 Legislative Goals <br />Conference to be held January 9-10, 1997, in Durham. Commissioner Moretz stated he <br />would be attending the conference and would like to be the voting delegate for Lee <br />County. Commissioner Reives moved to nominate Commissioner Moretz as the voting <br />delegate for the 1997 Legislative Goals Conference. Commissioner Matthews seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed defendants arrested for non-compliance charges. Social <br />Services Director Diane Lamb, Social Services Attorney Steve Watkins and Child Support <br />Supervisor Jim Garner were present and discussed this matter with the Board and <br />answered questions. No action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered the sale of property located on South Plank Road. County <br />Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the Board an offer of $500 was received by Stephen and <br />Edwina Harris of Washington, D.C. to purchase a .19 acre lot on South Plank Road, said <br />property being declared surplus to the needs of the County. The Board authorized sale of <br />the property using the upset bid procedure on October 21, 1996. He was requesting the <br />Board either accept or reject the offer in accordance with resolution authorizing sale. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to approve the offer of $500 for a .19 acre lot on South Plank <br />Road having used the upset bid process. Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to recess the meeting and go into the Water and <br />Sewer District No. 1 meeting. Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />v7 <br />
