0?2 <br />BOOK 16 PasF 745 <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />After coming out of the Lee County Water and Sewer District No. 1 meeting, the <br />meeting recessed till 7:00 p.m. <br />After returning at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs courtroom of the old Lee County <br />Courthouse at 1408 South Homer Blvd., with all members present, the meeting resumed <br />for public hearings as scheduled for this date and time. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to open the public hearings with members of the <br />Planning Board. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and up upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Planning Director Trevis Averett outlined for the Boards and general public the <br />rezoning petition by Mr. C. M. Laws to rezone from Residential Restricted District to <br />Highway Commercial District approximately 2.66 acres of land on McCormick Road. <br />Mr. C. M. Laws of 6613 McCormick Road spoke in favor of the rezoning request. <br />Mr. David Spivey of 4707 Laws Road spoke against the request. Planner Althea <br />Thompson read a statement from Ms. Mary Bridges of 6706 McCormick Road on behalf <br />of herself, Ms. Sandra Blalock of 6702 McCormick Road and Ms. Iris Homesley of 6700 <br />McCormick Road who were also opposed to the request. <br />Mr. Averett discussed the second rezoning petition by Lonnie Joe Simmons to <br />rezone from Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial District <br />approximately 13.10 acres of land on White Hill Road. <br />No one spoke for or against the zoning petition. <br />Economic Development Director Don Moss spoke briefly to the Board concerning <br />incentives for Economic Development concerning Redman Homes Inc., Caterpillar, Inc. <br />and Frontier Spinning. <br />Mr. Steve Tansill, Operations Manager, from Redman Homes spoke in favor of the <br />proposal to participate in the cost of an economic development project up to $95,000.00 <br />for Redman Homes. <br />9 <br />
