• <br />50V 16 PACE 741 <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Land Acquisition Grant through the North Carolina Parks <br />and Recreation Trust Fund. Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Sipe discussed with <br />the Board a proposal to purchase 32 acres of land adjacent to San Lee Park. She told the <br />Board Lee County can apply for a Land Acquisition Grant through the North Carolina <br />Parks and Recreation Trust Fund to assist in the purchase of this property. The grant is a <br />50/50 match, with the State providing 50% and the County providing 50%. Two certified <br />appraisals will be needed before the grant can be submitted. Commissioner Reives moved <br />approval to apply for a Land Acquisition Grant through the North Carolina Parks and <br />Recreation Trust Fund as presented and authorized the County Manager to secure two <br />certified appraisals on the property. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered Budget Amendment # 01/21/97/16. Finance Director Lisa <br />Minter answered questions of the Board. Commissioner Matthews moved to approve <br />Budget Amendment # 01/21/97/16, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by <br />this reference made a part hereof. Public Works Director Kenny <br />Cole told the Board bids had been obtained to replace the fifteen (15) year old containers <br />currently being used to store newspaper and cardboard containers at the convenience <br />centers.
