0 aON . 16 PAu 778 <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board at this time took a fifteen minute recess. Upon returning from recess, <br />with all members present, Chairman Garner opened the meeting to hold a public hearing <br />on the FY 1997/98 budget. <br />The following individuals spoke in favor of funding for a new Agribusiness Center <br />for Lee County: Raymond (Buck) Cox of 4224 Cox Mill Road (representing Lee County <br />Farm Bureau); Tom Zone of 609 Cotton Road; Larry Landis of 200 Mill Pond Road; <br />Mike Gaster of 5828 Edwards Road (representing Soil & Water Conservation); Gabrielle <br />Moretz of 2257 Brown Road; Tim Thomas of 3314 Kendale Drive; Bob Dalrymple of 515 <br />Dalrymple Road and Wilma Winstead of 4201 Lemon Springs Road. <br />The following individuals spoke in favor of continued funding for the Lee County <br />Arts Council and Temple Theater: Mr. Sam Gaskins of 1514 Briarcliff Drive and Ms. <br />Marti Ragsdale of 2400 Brookwood Trail. <br />Immediately following the public hearings the Board took a five minute recess. <br />After returning, with all members present, County Manager William Cowan told the Board <br />Central Carolina Hospital had submitted a proposal for the operation of Emergency <br />Medical Services. Chairman Garner appointed a committee consisting of himself, <br />Commissioner Matthews and Commissioner Moretz to study proposals from Central <br />Carolina Hospital and FirstHealth of the Carolinas and to bring a recommendation back to <br />the full Board. <br />Mr. Cowan told the Board he, County Attorney K. R. Hoyle and Chairman Garner <br />would be meeting with representatives of Standard & Poor's and Moody's in New York <br />on February 26 and 27, 1997, to discuss the bond rating for the county. <br />Mr. Garner passed out Board/Commission assignments to Commissioners. <br />Commissioners will serve on the following Boards/Commissioners for the remainder of the <br />year: <br />COMMISSIONER BOARD/COMMISSION <br />Jimmie Cox Economic Development Board <br />Volunteer Fire Department Representative <br />010 <br />Hubert Garner Economic Development Board <br />Johnston Lee Community Action <br />Health Board <br />
