60V 16 ?t'u 835 0 C11 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BUDGET <br />WORK SESSION <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />MONDAY, APRIL 15, 1997 <br /> <br />The special budget work session of the Board of Commissioners for the County of <br />Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 5:30 p.m. in the Gordon A. Wicker Community <br />Conference Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North <br />Carolina. Commissioners present were Jimmie M. Cox; F. Hubert Garner; T. Ervin <br />Mansfield; Bertha L. Matthews; J. Douglas Moretz; Nathan E. Paschal and Robert T. <br />Reives. <br />Chairman Garner presided and the following business was transacted: <br />Rev. Paul Leland, Minster of St. Luke United Methodist Church delivered the <br />invocation. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the Board his recommendations <br />for the Capital Improvements Plan for 1997/98 - 2001/02 and answered numerous <br />questions from Board members. <br />Commissioner Reives moved the Board of Education supply a written report on <br />the school construction/renovation projects currently in progress outlining how the money <br />will be used and a time frame for the bond expenditures along with the source of funding <br />for each project. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager William Cowan went over with the Board his goals and <br />objectives for the FY 1997/98 budget. <br />Commissioner Reives moved for the Finance Officer for the Board of Education to <br />appear before the Commissioners at their May 19, 1997 meeting and give a written and <br />oral report on the financial status of the Board of Education.
