Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and <br />Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board took a five minute recess and upon returning from <br />recess, with all members present, the meeting resumed. <br />County Manager William Cowan presented his recommendations <br />for the FY 1997-98 Budget and answered questions from Board <br />members. After some discussion, Commissioner Cox moved approval of <br />the following budget schedule: <br />• Budget work session <br />May 14, <br />1997 <br />6:00 p.m. <br />• Public hearing on budget <br />May 19, <br />1997 <br />7:00 p.m. <br />• Adoption of Budget Ordinance <br />June 2, <br />1997 <br />8:00 a.m. <br />Commissioner Mansfield seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and <br />Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed a joint meeting with the Board of Education <br />to discuss Phase I of the school construction project and budget matters. <br />The general concensus of the Board was to meet at 7:00 p.m., <br />Wednesday, May 14, 1997 in the Gordon A. Wicker Community <br />Conference Room. <br />Commissioner Reives moved that interviews for employment <br />positions not be done until after the posting deadline unless it is a very <br />unusual situation.
