a ~ 16 wl 850 <br />001 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MAY 5, 1997 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 8:00 a.m. in the <br />Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present were Jimmie M. Cox; F. Hubert Garner; T. Ervin <br />Mansfield; Bertha L. Matthews; J. Douglas Moretz; Nathan E. Paschal <br />and Robert T. Reives. <br />Chairman Garner presided and the following business was <br />transacted. <br />Commissioner Ervin Mansfield delivered the invocation. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items to be discussed. <br />Chairman Garner asked the Board to consider, on the consent agenda, a <br />request from General Robert E. Lee Camp # 803, Sons of Confederate <br />Veterans, to fly the First National Confederate Flag at the Lee County <br />Courthouse on May 10, 1997. Commissioner Reives moved to add the <br />above item to the consent agenda. Commissioner Cox seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and <br />Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Dr. Lynn Sadler spoke briefly to the Board concerning the second <br />annual "Railroad Heritage Days in Lee County". <br />Commissioner Cox asked that item "O" on the consent agenda - <br />request to the North Carolina Utility Commission to extend Lillington <br />"893" telephone numbers with Sanford local telephone numbers" be <br />pulled for further discussion. <br />
