James Womack stated that he was unaware of the dog not being
allowed into the school and that as far as the Board of Education knew, the dog was
allowed and encouraged to be used.
Commissioner Cox told the Board of Education that he would like to see the two
boards get along in the future.
All members of the Board of Education thanked the Board of Commissioners for
the opportunity to meet with them.
County Manager Bill Cowan informed the Board of Education that he has not
included an increase in his proposed 1997-98 budget for the schools which has already
been submitted to the Board of Commissioners. This is primarily due to the fact that he
had not received a budget request from the schools which was requested to be in by
March 14, 1997, and also that the Board directed him at its meeting on April 21, 1997,
not to provide an increase in the current expense or capital outlay appropriation for the
Board of Education. A public hearing on the proposed budget is scheduled for May 19,
1997.
There being no further discussion, Chairman Garner thanked everyone for their
ation and the mectima ied.
F.
