BOOR 16 PACE 5
would be eliminated. If not, it would remain open to those students who
were not redistricted to another school. The capacity for students at
Jonesboro is 480 and the current enrollment is approximately 500. This
should change somewhat when the year-round school is complete and
when the School Board goes through the redistricting process.
3. By position, how much local supplement is paid to central office staff?
Seven staff members receive $2,505 each, one staff member receives
$5,900, one staff member receives $20,000 and two staff members receive
$10,000 each.
4. What is the role and function of various Assistant Superintendents in the
central office?
The administrative staff consists of one Assistant Superintendent, one
Associate Superintendent, and one Administrative Assistant, all of which
report to School Superintendent Steve Wrenn.
5. It is our understanding that new uniforms were purchased for all band
members except color guards and majorettes, if true, why?
Band uniforms are only purchased for members who play musical
instruments. Color guards and majorettes are considered to be auxiliary
components of a marching band. Those who wish to try out for a position
with the band know before hand that they must purchase their own
uniforms. The Band Boosters can help those who have difficulty
purchasing same.
6. If the Board of Education had $722,727 in fund balance available for
appropriation in local current expense as of March 13, 1997, when the
need for funds for band uniforms was so pressing, why did you not ask for
permission to transfer funds from current expense to capital outlay?
The fund balance varies from week to week and was different at the time
the request was made for the band uniforms. Upon a review of the fund
balance in April, it was determined that an alternative funding source would
be appropriate.
7. Under the projected new state salary/bonus plan, what additional money
could a qualified teacher earn next year?
03
There could be a minimum increase amount of 4% with the potential for a
20% increase.
