Either party shall have the right to terminate either or both of these <br />franchises by giving the other party six (6) months written notice of its intention to <br />terminate. <br />Section XI. Application for renewal of this franchise shall be made pursuant to <br />Sections 4 and 5 of the "Ordinance Regulating Ambulance Services in Lee County" <br />heretofore referred to. <br />Section XII. These franchises and the rights, privileges and authority hereby <br />granted shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997, provided that within <br />14 days after the date of final passage of this ordinance, Central Carolina Hospital shall, file <br />with the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners its unconditional acceptance of these <br />franchises and has entered into a written agreement with Lee County to provide <br />emergency medical service for said County and to comply and abide with all the terms and <br />provisions and conditions of these franchises and that contracts, and said acceptance to be <br />in writing and executed in the manner as required by Lee County. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an agreement from Central Carolina Hospital for EMS <br />Services. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle presented a draft agreement to the Board and <br />explained he was working with the hospital and their attorney to get a finalized agreement. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Reives moved to delegate the proposed agreement <br />to the Committee made up of Commissioner Garner, Commissioner Matthews, and <br />Commissioner Moretz to finalize and move forward with the agreement.- Commissioner <br />Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered amendments to the Lee County Animal Control Ordinance. <br />Health Director Phyllis Lowry told the Board the Lee County Board of Health was <br />concerned about cats not being tagged since they are the number one carrier of rabies in <br />Lee County. After some discussion, Commissioner Cox moved to deny the request from <br />the Board of Health and go with the State's ruling to exempt cats from wearing tags. <br />6 <br />
