604 <br />BOOK 16 NacE 582 <br />BE IT RESOLVED THAT The Division of Highways of the Department of <br />Transportation proceed with this program subject to availability of funding, right-of-way, <br />and environmental review. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />A second public hearing was held to hear public comments on a request for an <br />ambulance franchise for Lee County by Central Carolina Hospital. Chairman Garner <br />opened the floor for comments from the public. No one spoke for or against the <br />ambulance franchise. Chairman Garner closed the public hearing and Commissioner <br />Moretz moved approval of the following: <br />AN ORDINANCE GRANTING FRANCHISES <br />TO <br />AMISUB OF NORTH CAROLINA, INC. <br />DOING BUSINESS AS CENTRAL CAROLINA HOSPITAL <br />FOR THE PROVISION OF EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY <br />AMBULANCE SERVICE IN LEE COUNTY. NORTH CAROLINA <br />Section I. The Board of Commissioners of Lee County, North Carolina, does <br />hereby find, declare and determine as follows: <br />a) That after due deliberation, in open session, at its regular meetings held on <br />June 2, 1997, and June 16, 1997, the Board determined that there was a need for <br />emergency and non-emergency ambulance services in Lee County. The Board thereupon <br />voted to award an exclusive franchise to AMISUB of North Carolina d/b/a Central <br />Carolina Hospital (hereinafter referred to as Central Carolina Hospital) for the provision <br />of emergency ambulance services in Lee County and a non-exclusive franchise to Central <br />Carolina Hospital for the provision of non-emergency and convalescent ambulance <br />services in Lee County. <br />b) Pursuant to Section 4 of the "Ordinance Regulating Ambulance Services in <br />Lee County," Central Carolina Hospital has made application for a franchise from Lee <br />County to operate an emergency and non-emergency ambulance service in Lee County. <br />C) Central Carolina Hospital is in compliance with Article 7 of Chapter 131E <br />of the North Carolina General Statutes. <br />4 <br />
