3 <br />0 9 <br />BOOK 18 PACE 981 <br />Funds for a total of $79,614 for small projects that may arise during the year such as road <br />additions, property owner participation projects, volunteer fire department drives, county- <br />wide surveys, overdrafts, etc. <br />WHEREAS, The North Carolina Department of Transportation is required to <br />pave 2.84 miles in Lee County during the fiscal year 1997-1998 in order to meet the goals <br />of 1989 Highway Trust Fund Legislation, and the 1997-98 Secondary Road Construction <br />Program proposes to pave 1.50 miles; and therefore, the remainder of funds received in <br />addition to $334,614 be utilized for paved secondary road improvement projects, spot <br />stabilization of unpaved secondary roads, and additional paving of unpaved roads as far as <br />funds will allow. <br />WHEREAS, it is proposed to utilize $15,000 of Secondary Road Construction <br />Funds and $90,000 of Secondary Road Trust Funds, $50,000 of Secondary Road Bond <br />Funds for a total of $255,000 to pave the following unpaved road construction projects: <br />A. Paving unpaved Rural Roads as far as right-of-way, funding <br />and environmental review will allow: <br />PRIORITY IF Grade, Drain, Base, Pave and Erosion Control - <br />SR 1500 B from SR 1500 to SR 1505 - 2.40 miles <br />Estimated Cost $432,000 <br />Secondary Road Construction Fund <br />1996-97 Allocation $ 10,000 <br />1997-98 Increased Allocation $115,000 <br />Secondary Road Trust Funds $ 90,000 <br />Total Funds Allocated $215,000 <br />B. Paving unpaved Subdivision Roads as far as right-of-way, funding, <br />and environmental review will allow: <br />PRIORITY IF Grade, Drain, Base, Pave and Erosion Control - <br />SR 1397 from SR 1318 to Dead End - 0.30 mile <br />Secondary Road Bond Fund <br />Estimated cost and Allocation - $50,000 <br />C. Retain approximately $27,491 of the Secondary Road Construction <br />Funds, approximately $19,448 of the Secondary Road Trust Fund, <br />and approximately $32,675 of Secondary Road Bond Funds, for <br />a total of $79,614 for road additions, property owner <br />participation projects, rural volunteer fire department driveways, <br />county wide surveys, overdrafts, and other small projects. <br />3 <br />
