ARTICLE III <br />Section 2-3-26. Notice to Owner <br />0.94 <br />Immediately upon impounding an animal, the animal control program shall make <br />reasonable effort to notify the owner and inform such owner of the conditions whereby the <br />animal may be redeemed. If the owner is unknown or cannot be located, notice of such <br />impoundment shall be posted for four (4) days, or until the animal is disposed of, at the <br />animal shelter. The time and place of taking of such animal, together with the time and <br />date of posting the notice shall be stated herein. <br />Section 2-3-27. Redemption by Owner Generally <br />(A) The owner of an animal under this article may redeem the animal and <br />regain possession thereof within ninety-six (96) hours, (4) days after notice of <br />impoundment is given or posted, as required by Section 2-3-26, by complying with all <br />applicable provisions of this chapter and paying any necessary veterinarian's fee and a <br />boarding fee set by the San-Lee Humane Society. <br />Section 2-3-28. Destruction or Adoption of Unredeemed Animal Generally <br />(A) If impounded animal is not redeemed by the owner within the period <br />prescribed by Section 2-3-27, it may be destroyed in a humane manner or shall become the <br />property of the San-Lee Humane Society's shelter(s) and offered for adoption to any <br />responsible adult who is willing to comply with the ordinance. Such animal may be <br />adopted or purchased by the first person who pays the adoption or purchase fee and rabies <br />vaccination if unvaccinated for rabies. <br />
