eooK 17 rAn 0e C, 01 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />JULY 21, 1997 <br />J The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 <br />Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Jimmie M. <br />Cox; F. Hubert Garner; T. Ervin Mansfield; Bertha L. Matthews; J. Douglas Moretz; <br />Nathan E. Paschal and Robert T. Reives. <br />Chairman Garner presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Doug Moretz delivered the invocation. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items to be discussed. County <br />Manager William Cowan asked the Board to consider opposing Senate Bill 339 An <br />Act to Increase the Johs Tax Credit for Tier One Counties. County Attorney K. R. <br />Hoyle asked the Board to consider a request from the Board of Education concerning <br />an easement. Commissioner Reives asked the Board (1) to discuss a possible meeting <br />with the Board of Education, (2) to discuss the Heins Education Building and <br />proposed Agribusiness Center, and (3) a tabled rezoning matter for John Daniel on <br />Highway 91 South be considered. Commissioner Moretz moved to add the above <br />items to the agenda. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to approve the consent agenda as printed, minus an <br />item concerning destroying outdated Veterans' records, which included the following <br />items: <br />• minutes of the June 16, 1997 regular meeting <br />• resolution for Solid Waste Plan (copy attached) <br />• budget amendment 9 07/21/97/02 (copy attached) <br />
