005 <br />The Board considered a recommendation from the Social Services Board <br />concerning new welfare reform provisions. Social Services Director Diane Lamb told the <br />Board the Social Services Board recommended Lee County conduct business as a <br />"Standard County" in the new welfare system proposal. Jack Dossenbach, Jr., Chairman <br />of the Social Services Board, along with Ms. Lamb, answered questions from the Board. <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Mansfield voted to accept the recommendation of <br />the Social Services Board for Lee County to be a "Standard County." Commissioner <br />Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews and Paschal <br />Nay: Moretz and Reives <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two vote. <br />The Board considered a renewal contract between Lee County and San-Lee <br />Humane Society. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the Board this was the same contract <br />as in the past and if renewed would be for the period from July 1, 1997 to June 30, 1998. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the renewal contract as presented, a copy of <br />which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Commissioner Mansfield seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Lease Agreement between Lee County and The Optimist <br />Club of Deep River-Northview. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle answered questions from <br />the Board concerning the agreement. Commissioner Moretz moved to approve the Lease <br />Agreement between Lee County and The Optimist Club of Deep River-Northview, a copy <br />of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an agreement between the County of Lee and Dr. Ronald <br />Myres, DVM. This agreement would allow Dr. Myres to order and sell to the Lee County <br />Health Department, at his cost, drugs for the operation of the tranquilizer guns used by the <br />Health Department employees. Health Department Director Phyllis Lowry told the Board <br />that by approval of this agreement the County would indemnify Dr. Myres for <br />5 <br />
