(9 ao6K 17 P1,c: i.63 <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />Commissioner Reives moved that Lee County re-visit the possibilities of rejoining the <br />Triangle J Council of Governments. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon <br />a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and Mr. Cowan <br />was instructed to have a representative from Triangle J appear before the Board at the <br />next meeting on January 5, 1998. <br />The Board honored Mr. Richard (Dick) Branch at this time with a resolution of <br />appreciation. Commissioner Garner read the resolution and presented it to Mr. Branch. <br />Mr. Branch read a statement of appreciation to the Board and general public. <br />Ms. Donarene Steele, CPA with Dixon, Odom & Co., presented to the Board a <br />summary of the 1997 audited financial statements. <br />The Board considered the Work First Plan for 1998-2000. Social Services <br />Director Diane Lamb asked the Board to consider and approve the plan which must be <br />submitted to the State by January 15, 1998. She told the Board a public hearing must also <br />be held prior to submitting the plan. After some discussion, Commissioner Cox moved to <br />approve the plan. Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz and Paschal <br />Nay: Reives <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. Mr. <br />Reives stated he voted no because he wished to wait until after the public hearing to vote <br />on the plan. <br />Discussion continued on a time to hold the public hearing. Commissioner Cox moved to <br />hold the public hearing at 10:00 a.m. on January 5, 1998. Commissioner Mansfield <br />seconded the motion. After further discussion, Chairperson Matthews made a substitute <br />motion to hold the public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 1998. After still further <br />discussion, Commissioners Cox and Matthews withdrew their motions. After still further <br />discussion, Chairperson Matthews moved to hold the next meeting on January 5, 1998 at <br />3:00 p.m. and schedule public hearings for 7:00 p.m. at the Lee County Government <br />Center. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />O~G <br />6 <br />
