Notwithstanding such status, all County employees employed for economic development shall be excluded from the provisions of the County Personnel Resolution and shall be employees at will and may be relieved of their duties and have their employment terminated by LCEDC. 3. County agrees to make a budgetary appropriation for operational expenses in the amount of $787,500.00 for the fiscal year July 1, 1997 - June.30, 1998. Such funds would be disbursed as directed by the Board of Commissioners and used for the line items fisted in Schedule A attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof. 4. LCEDC agrees to do the following: (a) To use its best efforts to select and supervise the Economic Development Director; (b) To use its best efforts to conduct an effective economic development program; (c) To cooperate fully with the County of Lee to use its utilities and economic planning; (d) To cooperate fully with the Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce and any Business Support Group or other subcommittee of said chamber formed to provide financial support for economic development; (e) To furnish written reports to the County on activities and financial matters as directed or requested by the County Manager; (f) To keep accurate, thorough, and detailed records of the expenditure of funds appropriated by the County for economic development activities and to cooperate fully with the County's auditors in their examination of such accounts. 5. The appropriation of funds by the County for subsequent fiscal years and the acceptance of same by LCEDC shall renew or extend this agreement for such fiscal year or years. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, County has caused this instrument to be executed in its name by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for said County and attested by the Clerk of said board, and its County seal to be affixed, all by authority of its Board of Commissioners, first dully given; and LCEDC has caused this instrument to be executed in Page 2 of 4
