('~J7 <br />BOOK 17 r't'CE 18 0 <br />Commissioner Reives moved for Lee County to re-join the Council in the 1998-99 <br />fiscal year. Commissioner Cox moved to table the matter and study the issue <br />further. Commissioner Garner seconded the tabled motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: Matthews <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />The Board considered recommendations from the Planning Board. Planner <br />Ron Satterfield told the Board the Planning Board recommended approval of the <br />rezoning petition by Dowell Eakes at 8024 Eakes Road to rezone 9.91 acres of <br />land. Commissioner Reives moved to accept the recominendation of the Planning <br />Board. Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: Cox <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote. <br />Mr. Satterfield told the Board the Planning Board recommended denial of <br />the rezoning petition by Dowell Eakes to rezone 5.12 acres of land located at the <br />intersection of Swann Station Road and St. Andrews Church Road. Commissioner <br />Moretz moved to deny the recommendation of the Planning Board. Commissioner <br />Paschal seconded the motion. Commissioner Cox made a substitute motion to <br />accept the recommendation of the Planning Board. Commissioner Reives seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote of the substitute motion, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox <br />Nay: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />The Chairperson ruled the substitute motion had failed with a six to one <br />vote. <br />The Board then voted on the original motion to deny the recommendation of <br />the Planning Board. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: Cox <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one vote to <br />deny the recommendation of the Planning Board. <br />6 <br />
