~ryx; <br />goo{ 17 rnsr_ 216 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />FEBRUARY 2, 1998 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State <br />J of North Carolina, convened at 8:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 Hillcrest <br />Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Jimmie M. Cox; F. Hubert <br />Garner, T. Ervin Mansfield; Bertha L. Matthews, J. Douglas Moretz; Nathan E. Paschal <br />and Robert T. Reives. <br />Chairperson Matthews presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Moretz asked for a few moments of silence in memory of former <br />Lee County Commissioner Mrs. Lila Paschal Nielson who recently passed away. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Chairperson Matthews asked the <br />Board to consider the appointment of a committee to study hunting regulations in Lee <br />County. Commissioner Garner moved to add the above mentioned item to the agenda. <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to approve the consent agenda, which consisted of the <br />following items: <br />• Minutes of the January 20, 1998 regular meeting (after noting a correction) <br />• New child protective service workers for Department of Social Services <br />• FY 1997/98 Work First/Employment Transportation Operating Assistance <br />Proposal for Senior Services <br />• Governor's Crime Commission Grant request for Youth Services <br />• Purchase order for modular offices at San-Lee Park <br />Commissioner Mansfield seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />
