• n~ <br />BOOK 17 PACf <br />• countywide tax to fund a First Responder program for Lee County. Approximately <br />thirty individuals have signed up for the program, which would be administered through <br />the local Rescue Squad if funds were available. An additional one cent tax would be <br />needed to fund the program. He told the Board he would continue to study the matter. <br />The Board considered a nomination for the Broadway Planning Board. <br />Commissioner Mansfield reappointed Lonnie Thomas to serve on the Broadway <br />Planning Board as Lee County's representative in the ETJ jurisdiction. Commissioner <br />Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives made a motion that a letter from the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners be sent to the Attorney General's Office and Association of General <br />Council inquiring as to what can be done, if anything, to change the decision of the <br />School Board after a public hearing has been held on redistricting. Commissioner <br />Moretz seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />• Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commission Reives made a motion that a letter be sent to local Lee County <br />municipalities and the Chamber of Commerce to encourage local purchasing of goods <br />and services. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />At this time the meeting recessed until 7:00 p.m. <br />Upon returning at 7:00 p.m., with all members present, the meeting resumed in <br />Courtroom 41 at the new Lee County Courthouse, to hold public hearings as advertised <br />for this date and time. Chairperson Matthews called the meeting to order. <br />Commissioner Mansfield moved to go into joint public hearings with members of the <br />Planning Board. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />• <br />8 <br />
