0 BOOK 17 pr,u 222 <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />40 Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the purchase of a new van for the Sheriff's Department. <br />Sheriff Billy Bryant asked the Board to approve the purchase of a new 1998 jail van in <br />the amount of $20,967.40 from Sanford l=ord. The new van would replace an older <br />model with high mileage. Commissioner Mansfield moved to approve the purchase of a <br />new 1998 van for the Sheriffs Department in the amount of $20,967.40. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered architectural services for the new Agribusiness Center to <br />be constructed on Hwy. 78 (Tramway Road). Cooperative Extension Director John <br />Hall told the Board a committee composed of himself, Chairperson Matthews, <br />Commissioner Ervin Mansfield, Public Works Director Kenny Cole, County Manager <br />William Cowan, and County Attorney K. R. Hoyle interviewed the following four <br />• architectural companies. <br />• The Wooten Company, Raleigh, NC <br />• Moore & Burton, Raleigh, NC <br />• Hayes & Howell, Southern Pines, NC <br />• Mullins/Sherman, Sanford, NC <br />Mr. Hall recommended to the Board that architectural services be awarded to The <br />Wooten Company for $81,000. This would include building plans and supervision of <br />the construction project until completion. A construction budget of $1.2 million for a <br />12,000-14,000 square foot building has been established. After some discussion, <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve that architectural services be awarded to The <br />Wooten Company and authorize the Chairperson to execute the contract. <br />Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives asked that all minority companies be notified and given the <br />opportunity to participate in the Request for Proposal process when submitting bids for <br />r <br />3 <br />
