Bt)OR PArr l21 <br />• Proclamation to declare the week of February 22-28, 1998 as Severe <br />Weather Awareness Week (copy attached) <br />• Amended contract for Employment and Training Grant Program through <br />Senior Services <br />• One year renewal water maintenance contract with American Anglian <br />Environmental Technologies <br />• Resolution to Department of Transportation to locate the Department <br />of Motor Vehicles office and State Highway Patrol Station at same <br />location (copy attached) <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the abandonment of a portion of State Road 1419 <br />(Brickyard Road) for Cherokee Sanford Group. Mr. Warren Paschal, Environmental <br />Manager with Cherokee Sanford Group appeared before the Board and asked that a <br />portion of Brickyard Road, with the exception of property located at the end of <br />• Brickyard Road joining State Road 1418 (Post Office Road) be abandoned. Cherokee <br />Sanford proposes to expand the 1600 Colon Road facility which will add <br />approximately 50 new jobs to Lee County. The company owns property on both sides <br />of Brickyard Road and the proposed new expansion will require utilization of the area <br />occupied by the road. Mr. David Tarpey of t317 Brickyard Road told the Board the <br />closing of that particular section of road would cause a great inconvenience for some <br />residents. After some discussion, Commissioner Garner moved to delay action on the <br />matter and hold a public hearing on March 16, 1998 and to notify all property owners <br />of the public hearing by registered mail. Commissioner Mansfield seconded the motion, <br />and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an amended fee collection policy for the Health <br />Department. Health Director Phyllis Lowry told the Board the Lee County Board of <br />Health adopted at their last meeting, an amended fee collection policy that would allow <br />the Department to refuse services to certain clients based on their "ability to pay." <br />Services would not be denied to clients based on their "inability to pay." Commissioner <br />Garner moved to approve the amended fee collection policy as presented. <br />0 Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows <br />2 <br />
