Boo <br />0 <br />SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK <br />1998 <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the states of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina are linked <br />both geographically and historically; and <br />WHEREAS, weather events, such as tornadoes, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, high <br />winds, and flash floods, annually cause millions of dollars in damage to crops and <br />buildings in these states; and <br />WHEREAS, a foremost concern of all government in these three states is the safety <br />of its citizens; and <br />• WHEREAS, knowing that the States of Georgia and South Carolina desire to work <br />with the State of North Carolina in a joint public education effort; <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, <br />does hereby proclaim February 22-28, 1998, as "SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS <br />WEEK" in Lee County, and urges all citizens to participate in its observance by learning <br />what they can do to protect themselves, their loved ones and their property when severe <br />weather threatens our state. <br />ADOPTED THIS 16TH DAY OF FEBRUARY 1998. <br />Bertha L.
