Commissioner Paschal seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an Ordinance to make it unlawful for any person to <br />furnish tobacco or tobacco products to inmates. Sheriff Billy Bryant asked the Board <br />to consider and approve this resolution because of major problems they have been <br />experiencing at the jail for the past twelve months. Commissioner Garner moved <br />approval of the following: <br />AN ORDINANCE TO MAKE IT UNLAWFUL FOR <br />ANY PERSON TO FURNISH TOBACCO OR TOBACCO <br />PRODUCTS TO THE INMATES OF A CONFINEMENT <br />FACILITY OPERATED BY OR UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF <br />THE SHERIFF OF LEE COUNTY <br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Lee as <br />follows: <br />Section 1. It is unlawful for any person to give and sell to any <br />inmates of a confinement facility operated by or under supervision of the Sheriff of Lee <br />County or for any person to confine, confederate, conspire, aide, abet, solicit, urge, <br />initiate, counsel, advise, encourage, attempt to procure another or others to give or sell <br />to any inmate of a confinement facility operated by or under the supervision of the <br />Sheriff of Lee County tobacco or products containing tobacco in any form. <br />Section 2. Any person, firm, or corporation violating the provisions <br />of this ordinance shall upon conviction be guilty of a Class III Misdemeanor and shall <br />be punished accordingly with the maximum fine not exceeding the amount of $500.00. <br />Section 3.
