lJ <br />bov 17 i,ta 24i <br />CI <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />MARCH 16, 1998 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, 106 <br />Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Jimmie M. Cox, <br />/ F. Hubert Garner, T. Ervin Mansfield, Bertha L. Matthews, J. Douglas Moretz, Nathan <br />V E. Paschal and Robert T. Reives. <br />Chairperson Matthews presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Hubert Garner delivered the invocation. <br />The Board considered additional agenda items. Commissioner Garner asked the <br />Board to consider a letter from the Central Carolina Community College Board of <br />Trustees and a resolution to honor Dr. John Dotterer for sixty years of service to <br />Sanford and Lee County. Commissioner Reives asked to make continents concerning a <br />letter from the Department of Justice. Commissioner Reives moved to add the above <br />mentioned items to the agenda. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a lease purchase agreement between United Financial of <br />North Carolina and Cape Fear Rural Fire Department. Commissioner Cox expressed <br />concerns as to why so much money needed to be spent on fire equipment. The new fire <br />truck in question will seat six passengers and he felt they only needed one that would <br />seat two people. He stated that he felt too much money was being spent on fire <br />equipment for all volunteer departments. Robert Howard and James Collins, <br />representatives from Cape Fear Fire Department were present and answered questions <br />from Board members. After much discussion, Commissioner Garner moved to approve <br />a lease purchase agreement between United Financial of North Carolina and Cape Fear <br />Rural Fire Department. Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />
