o, <br />eObx 17 rsc 2 i <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the Drug Action Committee of the Sanford Area Chamber of <br />Commerce has voiced concerns about the current sentencing structure for persons <br />convicted of violating controlled substances law and has requested support of its efforts to <br />persuade the delegation representing Lee County in the General Assembly to work for the <br />enactment of tougher sentences for convicted drug dealers, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners applauds the efforts of the Drug <br />Action Committee to work to support law enforcement and protect the youth of our <br />County, and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of <br />Commissioners of Lee County as follows: <br />SECTION 1. That the Board of Commissioners enthusiastically supports <br />the efforts of the Drug Action Committee to seek tougher sentences for convicted drug <br />dealers. <br />SECTION 2. That it encourages the legislative delegation representing <br />Lee County in the General Assembly to work for enactment of legislation in keeping with <br />the aims and desires of the Drug Action Committee of the Sanford Area Chamber of <br />Commerce. <br />SECTION 3. That the Clerk to the Board is directed to furnish a copy of <br />this resolution to each member of the delegation representing Lee County in the General <br />Assembly and to the chairman of the Drug Action Committee of the Sanford Area <br />Chamber of Commerce. <br />Adopted this the 6 -Ll- day of April, 1998. <br />Bertha L.
