0 t noK 17 OF - l l 1 J <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />APRIL 7, 1998 <br />The special called meeting of the Board of Conmiissioncrs for the County of Lee, State of <br />North Carolina, convened at 5:00 p.m. in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County Government <br />Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Jimmie M. <br />Cos, F. Hubert Garner, T. Ervin Mansfield, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal and Robert <br />/ T. Reives. Commissioner J. Douglas Moretz was absent. <br />Chairperson Matthews presided and the following business Nvas transacted. <br />Conmiissioncr Garner moved open the public hearing, as advertised for this date and time, <br />to hear comments concerning an economic development project with the Lee County Economic <br />Development Corporation and the City of Sanford to participate in the cost of site preparation of <br />the Frontier Jet Spinning industrial site on US 421 North. Commissioner Cox seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cos, Garner, Mansfield. Matthews, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimousIv. <br />Economic Development Director Bob Heuts spoke in favor of the request and asked the <br />Board to consider an agreement to assist this proposed state-of-the-art facility. <br />No one spoke in opposition to the request. <br />Commissioner Mansfield moved approval of the following resolution and agreement which <br />is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof: <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE <br />OF FUNDS FOR AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECT <br />AND APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH <br />THE LEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />(FRONTIER JET SPINNING PROJECT) <br />WHEREAS, notice of a public hearing Nvas published that the County of Lee proposed to <br />participate in an economic development project Nvith the Lee County Economic Development <br />Corporation and the City of Sanford which consists of participation in the cost of site preparation <br />at the Frontier Jet Spinning industrial site on US 421 North in the County of Lee; and <br />
