6 <br />BOOK 17 ncF 322, <br />County Manager William Cowan presented his recommendations to the Board for <br />the FY 1998-1999 Budget. A public hearing to hear comments concerning the proposed <br />Budget will be held Monday, June 1, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. No action was taken on the <br />matter. <br />Commissioner Reives moved another letter of support be submitted to the local <br />delegation asking that funds be restored to Central Carolina Community College for <br />physical plant operations and maintenance. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, <br />and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The meeting was recessed until 7:00 p.m. <br />Upon returning at 7:00 p.m. in Courtroom Number Four at the old Lee County <br />Courthouse, the meeting resumed with all members presents. <br />Commissioner Moretz moved to hold public hearings as advertised for this date <br />and time. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairperson Matthews asked for comments from the general public concerning the <br />proposed Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) for FY 1998/1999-2002/2003. No one spoke <br />for or against the proposed plan. <br />Planner Althea Thompson outlined the rezoning petition by James H. Griffin to <br />rezone from Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial District, 1.03 acres <br />of land at 3137 Jefferson Davis Highway. <br />Mr. James Griffin of 3137 Jefferson Davis Highway and Mr. Nick Porter of 2009 <br />Jasany Drive spoke in favor of the request. <br />No one spoke in opposition of the request. <br />Mrs. Thompson outlined the rezoning petition by Nixon Porter, Jr. to rezone from <br />Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial District, .95 acres of land on the <br />6 <br />
