6 BOOK 17 ncF 322, County Manager William Cowan presented his recommendations to the Board for the FY 1998-1999 Budget. A public hearing to hear comments concerning the proposed Budget will be held Monday, June 1, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. No action was taken on the matter. Commissioner Reives moved another letter of support be submitted to the local delegation asking that funds be restored to Central Carolina Community College for physical plant operations and maintenance. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives Nay: None The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. The meeting was recessed until 7:00 p.m. Upon returning at 7:00 p.m. in Courtroom Number Four at the old Lee County Courthouse, the meeting resumed with all members presents. Commissioner Moretz moved to hold public hearings as advertised for this date and time. Chairperson Matthews asked for comments from the general public concerning the proposed Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) for FY 1998/1999-2002/2003. No one spoke for or against the proposed plan. Planner Althea Thompson outlined the rezoning petition by James H. Griffin to rezone from Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial District, 1.03 acres of land at 3137 Jefferson Davis Highway. Mr. James Griffin of 3137 Jefferson Davis Highway and Mr. Nick Porter of 2009 Jasany Drive spoke in favor of the request. No one spoke in opposition of the request.
