provides an update on health data for the county and progress in addressing health <br />priorities. This report was presented to the Board of Health March 21, 2018. No action was <br />taken. <br />C. Request from the Health Department to apply for additional WIC Funding. <br />Health Director Heath Cain stated that additional funds are available for request <br />from the State WIC Program. These funds are only available for clinics that have <br />maintained their required caseloads which is greater than 97 percent. WIC is currently <br />maintaining a 99 percent caseload. Commissioner Sharpe moved to approve the request <br />to apply for additional WIC funding. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Dodson <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />C. Capital Improvements Program FY 2019-2023 <br />The Recommended CIP for fiscal year 2019-2023 includes two Administration <br />projects, thirteen Lee County School projects, two Community Development projects, and <br />one public safety project. This year's CIP has eighteen projects and the capital requests <br />for the five-year period totaled $69,877,175. The two new projects are the Lee County <br />Library expansion and a firing range for the Lee County Sheriffs Office. The $3 million for <br />the courthouse is a temporary fix before the need will come to discuss additional space. In <br />speaking with the architect there are already a lot of logistical issues of moving people <br />around in the building. (Motion to set public hearing approved following return from Closed <br />Session.) <br />D. Consideration of an Offer to Purchase Property Located on Hooker Street, PIN 9642- <br />54-4884-00, in the City of Sanford, North Carolina <br />Lee County and the City of Sanford foreclosed on the property in 2012. The current <br />amount owed on the property is $7,678.93, which includes $1,691.26 in attorney fees, <br />$3,293.29 in City taxes, and $2,694.38 in County taxes. The Current tax value of the <br />property is $2,600.00. Brick Capital Community Development Corporation has submitted <br />an offer to purchase the above mentioned property for $800.00. BCCDC has submitted the <br />requisite 5% deposit and advertising costs. <br />If the Commissioners wish to sell this property, it will be sold through the upset bid <br />procedure. This offer will also have to be approved by the City Council. Commissioner <br />Reives moved to designate the property as surplus and authorize staff to accept the offer <br />in the amount of $800.00 from BCCDC. Following discussion, Commissioner Reives <br />revised his motion and moved to table until the next meeting to allow staff time to research <br />the feasibility of donating the property to a non-profit entity for affordable housing.
