23 rA__ 970 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />QUARTERLY JOINT MEETING BETWEEN THE <br />LEE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />SANFORD CITY COUNCIL <br />AND <br />BROADWAY TOWN COMMISSIONERS <br />NC TELECOMMUNICATIONS SCHOOL <br />5910 CLYDE RHYNE DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />FEBRUARY 22. 2011 <br />The quarterly joint meeting between the Lee County Economic Development <br />Corporation, Lee County Board of Commissioners, Sanford City Council, and Broadway Town <br />Commissioners was held at the NC Telecommunications School, 5910 Clyde Rhyne Drive, <br />Lee County Industrial Park, Sanford, North Carolina, on said date. Lee County Commissioners <br />present for the meeting included Richard B. Hayes, Larry "Doc" Oldham, Charles T. Parks, <br />Linda A. Shook, and James K. Womack, Jr. Commissioners absent were Nathan E. Paschal <br />and Robert T. Reives. Staff in attendance was County Manager John Crumpton, County <br />Attorney K. R. Hoyle and Clerk to the Board Gaynell Lee. <br />Mr. Tommy Mann, Chairman of the Lee County Economic Development Corporation <br />called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. <br />Chairman Shook called the meeting to order for the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners. The City of Sanford and Town of Broadway did not have a quorum present <br />from their respective boards. <br />Economic Development Director Bob Heuts presented a power point presentation on <br />Economic Development 101 which outlined funding sources from local, state and federal <br />programs for interested companies looking at relocating in Lee County. Local programs <br />include screening from the Employment Security Commission, training from Central Carolina <br />Community College (CCCC), government grants (local incentive program), low interest loans <br />(revolving loan program), and building and site database provided by the City- County GIS <br />Department. State programs include tax credits, One North Carolina Fund, Job Development <br />Investment Grants, Community Development Block Grant, Industrial Revenue Bonds, training <br />(through CCCC), North Carolina Rural Center, Capital Access Program, and Water & Sewer <br />Grants Program. Federal programs include assistance from the Economic Development <br />Administration, grants for public facilities, Rural Development, grants to communities, and <br />loans to businesses. <br />
