G23
LEE COUNTY
Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow
MEMORANDUM
To: John A. Crumpton, County Manager
From: Lisa G. Minter, Assistant County Manager /Finance Director 64)
Date: January 7, 2011
Subject: Environmental Impact, Inc.
Based on the questions asked during the Board of Commissioners' meeting on Monday,
January 3, 2011, 1 contacted Terry Myers at the Environmental Impact, Inc. office in
Aberdeen to see if I could get some answers. Lee County has been a sponsor of
Environmental Impact, Inc. since FY 2004 -2005. The sponsorship has been $3,000
each year. Mr. Myers did not know how the $3,000 was determined, but each of the five
counties is billed the same amount. Mr. Myers did tell me that Moore County has not
• paid their sponsorship for the past three years. Based on my discussion with Mr. Myers,
the non - payment has not interfered with Moore County's representation in the
organization or the organization's efforts to assist with projects in Moore County.
I also asked Mr. Myers about the Barnhardt Scout Camp Endowment and the Prescribed
Fire Training Center projects that were listed as benefitting Lee County. His explanation
was that the camp is a regional camp and benefitted Lee County if any of the Boy
Scouts from Lee County participate in activities there. The same concept is applied to
the regional Prescribed Fire Training Center at Montgomery Community College.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please let me know.
•
