A. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: January 3, 2011 XX Action Item <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT Purchase of NarTest NTX2000 Technology for Drug Testing <br />DEPARTMENT Lee County Sheriffs Office <br />CONTACT PERSON Chief Deputy Randall Butler <br />REQUEST Purchase agreement for one NarTest NTX2000 Technology <br />machine to test and analyze criminal evidence from drug samples. <br />SUMMARY The Sheriffs Office is requesting to enter into a contract with <br />NarTest Technologies, Morrisville, North Carolina, to purchase a <br />NTX2000 -NT5 series machine to test and analyze criminal drug <br />evidence. The department would pay $20,000 for the unit. A <br />$5,000 down payment would be due at the beginning of the contract <br />agreement, with a second payment of $5,000 due May 1, 2011. <br />The balance of $10,000 will be due August 1, 2011. This is a sole <br />source item for bidding following county policy. <br />BUDGET IMPACT The first $10,000 for said equipment will be paid from state drug <br />asset with the balance of $10,000 budgeted in the Sheriff's Office <br />budget for FY 2011 -12 drug asset funding. The department will <br />receive revenues for the services ranging from $300 - $600 per test <br />ordered by the courts payable to Lee County. <br />ATTACHMENT(S) Quote from NarTest Technologies <br />PUBLIC HEARING No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION Approve request as presented for the Sheriff's Office to purchase <br />the NarTest system under the agreement presented. <br />0 <br />
