61 19
Donese W. Pulley
1506 Overlook Court
Sanford, North Carolina 27332 -8153
In the late 60's and early 70's I lived in the District of Columbia. I was employed
with the United States Civil Service Commission in Washington, DC. I worked with
the Division of Training. We trained governmental official. Also, during this period
I worked with the District of Columbia School System in a Supervisory position.
In the late 70's I moved back to North Carolina and worked with Joint Orange -
Chatham Community Action as Director of the Chapel Hill - Carrboro Community
Action Center. Managed the Clothing Closet for elderly and disadvantaged citizens
and worked closely with the Meals on Wheels Program.
I realized my true calling was in education, so I moved to Cumberland County and
taught there for seventeen year. During this period I also taught several graduate
level Statistical and Data Analysis classes at Fayetteville State University.
I moved to Sanford July 30, 1994. My first year here I taught first grade at J. Glenn
Edwards Elementary School, the following three years I was Lead Teacher -
Community Liaison for Edwards. I then was hired as a Specialist for the Even Start
• Family Literacy Program, also on that campus. The Program grew, so we were
moved, and I became Coordinator for the Warren Williams Child Development
Center. When we started the Program on that campus, we had seven children and
seven parents. When I retired three years ago there were nearly 200 children,
twenty parents, and two full classes of high school students, one from Lee County
High School and one from Southern Lee.
Worked with Social Services' Grandparents as Parents program. We help these
grandparents who were rearing their grandchildren about what kinds of things to
look for as far as education and related issues
Taught at Central Carolina Community College, Early Childhood Classes, 2006-
2008.
Until retirement, I was on the Lee County Partnership for Children's Board of
Directors for six years. Presently, I am on the Lee County Senior Services Advisory
Board, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, Lee County Cooperative Extension
Advisory Council, and the Sanford Woman's Club.
C1
