LEE, COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />PROCLAMATION <br />CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH <br />WHEREAS, children are vital to Lee County's future success, prosperity and quality of life as well <br />as being our most vulnerable assets; and, <br />WHEREAS, all children deserve to have the safe, stable, nurturing homes and communities they <br />need to foster their healthy growth and development; and, <br />WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect is a community responsibility affecting both the current and <br />future quality of life of a community; and, <br />WHEREAS, communities that provide parents with the social support, knowledge of parenting <br />and child development and concrete resources they need to cope with stress and nurture their <br />children ensure all children grow to their full potential; and, <br />WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention strategies succeed because of partnerships created <br />among citizens, human service agencies, schools, faith communities, health care providers, civic <br />organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community; and, <br />WHEREAS, any person or institution in our state who has cause to suspect that any juvenile is <br />abused, neglected, or dependent is mandated to make a report to the county department of <br />social services where the child resides or is found. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lee County Board of Commissioners proclaim the <br />month of April 2018 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Lee County, North Carolina and call <br />upon residents to observe this week by helping and supporting families in our community, <br />thereby preventing child abuse and strengthening the communities in which we live. <br />ADOPTED this day of A2018. <br />CiQ 4%r <br />cr w.•(�oe <br />Alm, �,A- <br />j <br />!'``:'� • Amy Dalrymple, Chair <br />Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />P.O.
