Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />E. Consideration of Lee County's Participation in the Opioid Litigation <br />County Attorney Whitney Parrish stated that in order to combat the growing opioid <br />epidemic, counties across the country are suing pharmaceuticals, distributors and/or <br />manufacturers in Federal Court. In doing so, outside counsel has been retained who are <br />responsible for representing the county in the multi -district litigation and in the Federal <br />litigation. County Manager John Crumpton stated that the information would be ready to <br />be presented to the Board at the second regular meeting in May. Commissioner Reives <br />requested information on what kind of financial impact the lawsuits may have on the <br />County if at all. Commissioner Sloan moved to direct staff to continue to gather more <br />information about how the opioid epidemic is affecting the County and to send a request <br />for proposal/information in reference to the opioid litigation. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />F. Discussion Regarding 2,000 Ft Buffer Around W.B. Wicker School <br />Commissioner Sharpe moved to approve an amendment to the agenda adding <br />Commissioner Reives' request for a discussion regarding a map of the 2,000 foot buffer <br />around the W.B. Wicker School site. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives presented a map displaying the 2,000 foot buffer around the <br />W.B. Wicker School site. He noted the other businesses and institutions including the <br />Dairy Bar, Pinehurst Medical Center along with several other places and communities that <br />are also located within the vicinity of the W.B. Wicker School. No action was taken. <br />VI. MANAGERS' REPORTS <br />A. County Manager's Monthly Report for April 2018 <br />County Manager John Crumpton presented the Monthly Manager's Report for April <br />2018, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a part <br />hereof.
