B. Proclamation for National Child Abuse Prevention Month. <br />Department of Social Services Director Angelina Noel presented a proclamation for <br />Child Abuse Prevention Month. Child Abuse Prevention Month is observed nationally in the <br />month of April since 1983. The goal of child abuse prevention month is keeping children <br />safe and families strong in a supportive community. Preventing child abuse is a community <br />effort. Proclaiming April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Lee County calls on all <br />community members to help assist in preventing child abuse in our community. <br />Commissioner Sloan moved to accept the Proclamation for National Child Abuse <br />Prevention Month as presented, a copy of the proclamation is attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Knecht, Dodson, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />C. Consideration of Lee County Health Insurance Proqram <br />Joyce McGehee, Human Resources Director, provided a presentation for the new <br />proposed Lee County Health Insurance Program. She recommended that Lee County <br />continue coverage with BCBS of North Carolina. The renewal for 2018/19 is 13.9% <br />increase in premium for the County. Commissioner Reives moved to authorize the Chair to <br />sign the contract for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for health insurance effective August 1, <br />2018 through July 31, 2019, approve a 13.9% increase in the employees' share of monthly <br />health care premiums, and approve wellness incentives to employees who participate in <br />the County's wellness program. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br />D. Request to Approve Renewal of Pre -Event Contract for Disaster Debris <br />Management Services between Lee County and TAG Grinding Services Inc. <br />Solid Waste Superintendent Joe Cherry stated that in 2014, the Board of <br />Commissioners approved a three year Pre -Event Contract with TAG Grinding Services, <br />Inc. to provide disaster recovery services following a natural or manmade disaster as <br />directed by the County in order to eliminate immediate threats to public health and safety. <br />The contract was renewed for one additional one year period by the Board on May 1, <br />2017. This will be the final renewal per the terms and conditions of the contract. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the Disaster Debris Management and Removal <br />Services Contract Renewal, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof.
