Lee Historical Society to fly General Lee's flag at the <br />Lee County Courthouse on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Shook read aloud the proclamation for retiree Claudette Moore. Ms. Moore was not <br />in attendance to accept the proclamation but it will be mailed to her. <br />Pursuant to N. C. General Statute 153A -52.1, Chairman Shook opened the floor for Public <br />Comments. No one signed up to speak during this time. <br />The Board considered an item carried over from the December 6, 2010 meeting in reference to <br />the 2013 Tax Revaluation project. Tax Administrator Dwane Brinson stated that North Carolina State <br />Law dictates that counties must conduct a revaluation at least every eight (8) years. A 2013 project is <br />currently scheduled for Lee County. The Commissioners, at their December 6, 2010 meeting, deferred <br />action on this matter. Mr. Brinson provided information on a proposed budget for the in -house <br />revaluation project if approved. After discussion, Commissioner Hayes moved to proceed with the <br />2013 Tax Revaluation project as presented and to proceed with the hiring of a new Appraisal position <br />within the next 60 days to assist with the project. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />Absent: Paschal <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the purchase of new drug testing equipment for the Lee County Sheriff's <br />Department. Chief Deputy Randall Butler asked the Board to enter into a contract agreement with <br />NarTest Technologies, Morrisville, North Carolina, to purchase a NTX2000 -NT5 series machine to test <br />and analyze criminal drug evidence. If approved, the department would pay $20,000 for the unit, with a <br />$5,000 down payment due at the beginning of the contract agreement and a second $5,000 payment <br />on May 1, 2011. The balance of $10,000 would be due August 1, 2011. Mr. Butler stated the <br />department would receive revenues for the services ranging from $300 and /or $600 per test ordered by <br />the courts and payable to Lee County. After discussion, Commissioner Oldham moved to approve the <br />purchase agreement with NarTest Technologies to purchase the above referenced equipment.
